Born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Olivia Gorra has been distinguished as the most important soprano in Mexico by the Union of Chroniclers of Theater and Music. The young singer made her stage debut with the Opera de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Recently, she debuted at the renowned Metropolitan Opera House in New York in the role of Liu in Turandot.

Ms. Gorra was awarded the Traviata 2000 International Voice Competition. Under the special supervision of Jessye Norman, The Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative selected Ms. Gorra as a finalist among the most talented artists from all around the world.

Ms. Gorra has shared the stage with such opera greats as Plácido Domingo, Ramon Vargas and Andrea Bocelli, among others, and has acted under the musical direction of Lorin Maazel, Marco Armiliato, Robert Lyell, Marin Alsop, Enrique Batiz, James Demster Enrique Diemecke, Enrique Patrón, Francisco Savin and Guido Maria Guida. She continues to develop her craft with the Opera de Bellas Artes and some of the most important orchestras and festivals in Mexico.

Ms. Gorra studied with Maestro Antonio Gonzalez at Valores Artísticos A.C. in Coatzacoalco. She also studied at the esteemed Escuela Superior de Musica of the National Institute of Fine Arts under the direction of Antonio Gonzalez and James Demster, and at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, under the direction of the prestigious teacher Marlena Malas.
