Born in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico, Viola Trigo is one of the most loved female performers in Mexico today. As a representative of Mexico in music festivals in over 22 countries, she has also participated in such national events as the Cervantino, Festival de Tamaulipas, Festival de Coahuila and Festival de Tabasco. Known for her interpretations of Mexican and Latin American composers, she has recorded six successful solo releases and five recordings with her late husband, the renowned composer Guadelupe Trigo.
An accomplished actress, Ms. Trigo appeared in the Disney film El Blanco and Va Virgen de Guadelupe, as well as the documentary La Cultura del Silencio. She has been featured in special programs as both performer and presenter for top national TV networks, including Televisa IMEVISIÒN and TV Azteca, in addition to countless radio specials and programs in Mexico and around the world.
Ms Trigo was presented the State of Coahuila Government Award in 1988, IMBA in 2000, the Award of the Mayor of Los Angeles in 2008, as well as the keys to the city of Nuevo Laredo in 2009.
